10 things to do this Silly Season in the Swan Valley

There are so many ways to fill your days (and nights) with here in the Swan Valley; we had a hard time stopping at just 10.

Read on for how we like to spend our time off during the festive season in this little pocket of paradise, just 30 minutes drive from the Perth CBD.

1. Let someone else do the driving.

Make a day of it and celebrate the festivities without worrying about who pulled the designated driver short straw. There are plenty of great tour companies out there such as d’Vine Tours, Swan Valley Tours, Explore Tours and Out & About wine tours. Or for the ultimate treat, why not arrive by helicopter with Corsaire. Get a birds-eye view of the region and feel like a rock star for the day!

2. Get a different perspective from the water.

Mandoon estate is tucked alongside the banks of the Swan River. Instead of driving through the vineyards to arrive at our doorstep, try disembarking from the water’s edge. Fitness fanatics can paddle upstream to our jetty by kayak or for a more leisurely journey, Captain Cook Cruises will keep you entertained on their wine cruise from Perth. It is truly one of the most relaxing journeys you will make for lunch (and even more relaxing after a glass of wine!)

3. NYE at Mandoon.

Hop to it! We have something for everyone here for New Year’s Eve. Pack the picnic blanket and join the Libby Hammer Quartet for our family friendly sundowner, Jazz on The Llawn. Food aficionados will be right at home at our NYE degustation at Wild Swan. Tickets also include entry to the party next door at Homestead Brewery to boogie off all those blissful dishes! With a DJ, full cash bar, cocktail and bar food – NYE at Homestead Brewery is where the party is at. Entry includes a complimentary cocktail on arrival and the option to purchase a post countdown transfer to Crown Casino to keep the celebrations going.

4. Eat. All. The. Food.

The Swan Valley is a mere 30 min drive from the CBD and is home away from home for food lovers. Take your pick from gourmet food producers such as Mondo Nougat, Morish Nuts, Margaret River Chocolate Co and Little Lamonts. Fresh produce abounds: summer brings with it some of the most beautiful goodies. Take your pick from local produce stalls abundant with stone fruit, figs, eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, melons and gem squash.

5. Take a wine tour.

Think you’ve seen it all? Well then - you haven’t been on a Meet The Makers at Mandoon Estate winery tour at Mandoon yet. Get up close and personal with the winemaking process and leave the estate feeling like a part of the Mandoon family. Taste wine straight from the barrel and chat with our winemakers before a stroll through the brewery and a luxe 5 course degustation paired with Mandoon Estate wines.
