Conway, Zygier & The Beggers Go West

Sunday 25th February 2018

With a musical career spanning over 25 years, multiple gold records, a string of hits and an Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Music Award for ‘Best Female Artist’, Deborah Conway needs little introduction.

Seeking a guitarist for her first ever solo album String of Pearls, Conway met and fell in love with Willy Zygier. This was the start of a highly successful song-writing and personal collaboration for Conway and Zygier, which has (so far) resulted in nine records, three children and been compared to greats like Dylan and Cohen.

Tracks spanning 11 records will be bought to life, from String of Pearls to their acclaimed latest release Everybody’s Begging, Conway, Zygier & The Beggars Go West will be an evening to remember.

Conway & Zygier will be accompanied by a full band of Australia’s finest musicians, including Niko Schauble, Clio Renner (RocKwiz) & Jonathon Zion, in this one off spectacular evening under the Swan Valley Stars

“The latest offering from the Conway-Zygier team is simply outstanding.” Canberra Times

“Conway and Zygier seem to have enveloped an intimate, down-home, folk-blues sound that’s deeply relatable. The songs tend to wrap around you, like a favourite throw, or big, old jumper does, as you curl-up on the couch with your favourite melancholic thoughts.” J-Wire

“'East Of Eden' stops you in your tracks, a piece of lyrical eloquence the likes of which rarely surface above all the muck these days.” Rhythms Magazine

“Right from the beginning this talented musical duo generate a powerful energy that both leaves the audience breathless and gives them the space to enjoy song-by-song their new album.” Arts Hub review of The Toff In Town, Melbourne

“If there was ever an Australian act that could be said to have maintained professional integrity alongside lyrical honesty in the wake of mainstream commercial popularity, Deborah Conway is easily that artist.” Faster Louder review of Tilley’s, Canberra
